    Bearhole Lake is equipped with both vehicle accessible campsites and wilderness camping options. There is a day-use area and picnic facilities in the park as well as pit toilets and a small boat launch.

    Kayaking or canoeing at Bearhole Lake provides an excellent opportunity to explore the stunning natural surroundings of the park while enjoying a peaceful water adventure.

    Bearhole Lake is a great option for a fishing spot close to the town of Tumbler Ridge. The lake contains yellow perch, burbot, rainbow trout, northern pike, large-scale sucker, and white sucker.

    History

    Cultural Heritage: Bearhole Lake is an area of traditional use by First Nations of the Treaty 8 Tribal Association.

    Conservation: Trumpeter swans find critical nesting habitat in and around Bearhole Lake. The area surrounding the lake contains undisturbed boreal white and black spruce forests and wetlands typical of the Kiskatinaw Plateau ecosection.

    Wildlife & Birding

    Bearhole Lake's surrounding area is abundant with wildlife, such as moose wading in the marsh and lake, beavers chewing on twigs, nesting trumpeter swans, and various warbler species, making it a haven for bird enthusiasts. Trumpeter swans are easily disturbed during the nesting period. Please do not approach these elegant birds or their young during this critical time.

    Special Note

    Off-Road Vehicles (ORVs) are prohibited in this Bearhole Lake Provincial Park. ORVs include ATVs, off-road motorcycles, snowmobiles and side-by-sides.

Dates of Operation

While the road to Bearhole Lake is open year-round, the access road may not be plowed in the winter. Check with the Visitor Centre for the latest road conditions.

How to Get Here

Bearhole Lake Provincial Park is located approximately 25 km east of Tumbler Ridge. Access is via the Kiskatinaw Forest Service Road. You can access the Forestry Road from the Highway 52 North. Please note: The Forestry Road is not usually maintained and becomes rutted and slippery after rains. Caution advised.
